Muddog legacy version guide
This page is for Muddog 1.0.7 for Windows. Its .exe installer differs
from Muddog 2's .msi installer. Muddog 2 supports Windows, Linux, and macOS;
start with Installation and updates for that version.

Installation
- Check that the installer you downloaded from the download page is version 1.0.7 for Windows.
- Run the installer and follow its instructions.
- Open Muddog UI from the Start menu.
The legacy Windows installer registers the muddog_srv background service.
While this service is running, it waits for P2P connections from other users
and can share your internet connection. Install it only if you want to
participate in this sharing.
Launch and connect
- Sign in to Muddog UI with your Mudfish ID.
- Select the Country you want to connect to on the dashboard.
- Click Connect and wait for a connection to a user in that country.
- Once connected, use the public IP check page to compare your IP address before and after connecting.
P2P connections use UDP hole punching and can take time or fail depending on the participants and network conditions. The connection attempt counts and settings described for Muddog 2 do not apply to this interface.
Disconnect and uninstall
When you have finished using the VPN, click Disconnect. Disconnecting your personal VPN is separate from stopping the background sharing service.
If you no longer want to use Muddog, uninstall it from the list of installed apps in Windows.
To switch to the new Windows app, first uninstall the legacy .exe
installation, then follow the Muddog 2 MSI installation steps.
To upgrade from the legacy Linux version 1.0.7, see
Muddog 2 installation and updates.
The legacy .sh installer differs from Muddog 2's .deb and .rpm packages.
