How to Use the Domain Dump Feature
Introduction
The Domain Dump feature in Mudfish WebExtension automatically collects domain names as you browse the web. This tool is useful for creating optimized routing settings for specific websites or services.
Basic Usage
1. Starting the Domain Dump Feature
- Click the Mudfish icon in your browser toolbar.
- Select "Options" or "Settings" from the menu.
- Click on the "Advanced" tab in the left sidebar.
- Scroll down to find the "Domain Dump" section.
- Click the "Click" button to start recording.
- The button icon changes from play (▶) to stop (■).
- The Status changes to "Recording".
2. Collecting Domains
- With recording active, browse the websites you want to optimize.
- All visited domains are automatically collected.
- Collected domains appear in the "Collected Domains" text area, updating approximately every 3 seconds.
3. Stopping Domain Collection
- When you've collected enough domains, click the "Click" button again to stop.
- The button icon returns to play (▶) from stop (■).
- The Status changes to "Stopped".
4. Using the Collected Domains
The collected domain list can be used for:
- Item Mode Settings: Apply Mudfish only to specific websites
- Creating Custom PAC Scripts: Set custom routing rules in the PAC section of the Advanced tab
5. Uploading the Domain List (Optional)
- Click the "Upload" button.
- Enter your Mudfish ID when prompted.
- Briefly explain why you're uploading the list.
- Submit to send the collected domains to the Mudfish team.
- Upon successful upload, you'll see an "Uploaded" notification, and the list will be cleared.
Notes
- All domains visited during browsing (including background connections) are collected.
- The domain list is sorted alphabetically.
- The list persists even if you restart your browser or Mudfish.
- The domains remain in the list until you upload them or reset your Mudfish settings.
Troubleshooting
- No domains being collected: Verify the Domain Dump feature shows "Recording" status.
- Upload failure: Check your internet connection and try again.
- Empty text area: Either no domains have been collected yet, or the list was already uploaded and cleared.
