Mode
The Mode settings in Mudfish WebExtension determine how your internet traffic is routed through the Mudfish network. This guide explains the available options and how to configure them for optimal performance.
Traffic Routing Modes
Mudfish offers three different traffic routing modes, each designed for specific use cases:
Full Mode
In Full Mode, Mudfish acts as a proxy for all your internet traffic, optimizing routes for everything you do online.
- Benefit: Comprehensive optimization for all applications and websites
- Use Case: When you want to improve network performance for your entire system
- Configuration: Simply select "Full Mode" in the Mode tab
Item Mode
In Item Mode, only traffic to specified domains will be routed through Mudfish. All other traffic uses your regular internet connection.
- Benefit: Selective optimization that conserves data usage
- Use Case: When you only want to optimize specific applications or websites
- Configuration:
- Select "Item Mode" in the Mode tab
- Choose services from the list that appears
- Only the selected services will use the Mudfish network
When using Item Mode, you'll see a list of available services to choose from. If you can't find a specific service you need, you can:
- Check the domain dump documentation
- Create a post on the Mudfish forums
Custom Mode
In Custom Mode, your traffic is routed according to a custom PAC (Proxy Auto-Configuration) script.
- Benefit: Complete control over routing rules
- Use Case: Advanced users who need specific routing configurations
- Configuration:
- Select "Custom Mode" in the Mode tab
- Click "Go to Advanced Settings" to define your PAC script
- Write or paste your custom PAC script in the editor
How to Select a Mode
- Open the Mudfish WebExtension options page
- Navigate to the "Mode" tab
- Select your preferred traffic routing mode
- If choosing Item Mode, select the services you want to optimize
- Your settings will be automatically saved and applied
Additional Information
When changing modes, Mudfish will automatically disconnect and reconnect to apply the new settings. This ensures your traffic is routed according to your preferences immediately.
For best performance:
- Use Full Mode when you want to optimize all your network traffic
- Use Item Mode to save data while still optimizing specific applications
- Use Custom Mode only if you have specific routing requirements and understand PAC scripting
