Basic Information​

What is Mudfish WebExtension?​

Mudfish WebExtension is an HTTP proxy extension for Mudfish Cloud VPN service users. With this extension, you can route your web browser traffic through the Mudfish network to optimize your online experience.

Why should I use Mudfish?​

Mudfish is designed to improve web performance and reduce latency when accessing specific websites or services. It helps optimize connections for games, streaming services, or other online content.

Do I need a Mudfish account?​

Yes, you need a Mudfish account to use the Mudfish WebExtension. You can create an account at the Mudfish Sign Up page.

Connection and Settings​

Which mode should I use?​

Mudfish WebExtension offers three modes:

  • Full Mode: Routes all internet traffic through Mudfish.
  • Item Mode: Routes traffic only to specified websites through Mudfish.
  • Custom Mode: Precisely controls traffic routing through a custom PAC script.

What should I do if I cannot connect?​

  1. Verify that your Mudfish account information is correct.
  2. Restart your browser.
  3. Try selecting a different Mudfish node.
  4. Check if your firewall is blocking Mudfish connections.

Confirm that your ID and password are correct. For Pay-Per-Traffic, check that your credit balance is at least zero. For Subscription, check that you have purchased a voucher and that it has not expired.

Try the extension in another browser; downloads are available at https://mudfish.net/download. Also try an incognito window to check for conflicts with other extensions.

How do I set up auto-login?​

  1. Go to the General Settings tab.
  2. Enter your username and password in the "Auto Login" section.
  3. Check the "Remember me!" option.

Performance and Troubleshooting​

How can I improve performance for specific websites?​

You can optimize performance for specific websites using Item Mode:

  1. Select "Item Mode" in the Mode tab.
  2. Choose the services you want to optimize from the list.
  3. If your desired service is not in the list, refer to the Domain Dump Documentation or request it on the Mudfish Forums.

Does the extension affect browser performance?​

Mudfish WebExtension is designed efficiently to minimize its impact on browser performance. However, in Full Mode, there might be some overhead as all traffic passes through Mudfish servers. If you want to optimize only specific websites, it's recommended to use Item Mode.

What should I do if my browser becomes slow?​

  1. Switch to Item Mode to route only specific websites through Mudfish.
  2. Try selecting a different Mudfish node.
  3. Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  4. Temporarily disable the extension and see if performance improves.

Technical Questions​

What languages does Mudfish WebExtension support?​

Mudfish WebExtension supports the following languages:

The extension is not working. What should I check?​

  1. Check your credit balance or subscription voucher as described above.

  2. Try another supported browser: Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Naver Whale, or Firefox. If only one browser fails, the problem may be specific to it.

  3. Check for conflicts with other extensions that control the browser's proxy settings.

  4. Check whether a network firewall blocks the proxy connection. The extension needs access to these TCP ports:

    • 18080 for Basic mode.
    • 18082 for Secure connection mode.
    • 18083 for SSL Bump mode.

If the problem continues, inspect the extension's execution logs for errors.

What does ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED mean?​

Chrome could not connect to the selected Mudfish node. Check whether:

  1. The error occurs with other Mudfish nodes.
  2. The error occurs after installing the extension in another supported browser.
  3. Enabling automatic login and entering your Mudfish ID and password in the extension settings changes the result.
  4. Another extension is running that may conflict with Mudfish's proxy settings.

What is a PAC script and how do I use it?​

A PAC (Proxy Auto-Configuration) script is a JavaScript function that determines which web requests should be routed through a proxy. You can define a PAC script in Custom Mode to have complete control over traffic routing.

  1. Select "Custom Mode" in the Mode tab.
  2. Click "Go to Advanced Settings."
  3. Define your PAC script in the Advanced tab.

Can I use Mudfish in other browsers?​
